Cross-Cultural Exchange Trip

DreamRoot will host a group of U.S. participants for a week-long cross-cultural exchange trip and jiu jitsu training camp in Recife, Brazil. Participants will visit DreamRoot leader initiatives and train with community members. Between training sessions, they will enjoy the beautiful beaches, explore street markets, try new foods, and share meals together with the locals.

3-Day Leader Workshop

DreamRoot is excited to facilitate a three-day leadership workshop in Recife, Brazil for local leaders of educational initiatives from across the country.

The workshop will include interactive learning sessions, networking, and group dinners. Topics will include leadership and best practices for building high-performance teams and operational excellence.

Jiu Jitu Uniform Drive (On-Going)

DreamRoot facilitates an on-going jiu jitsu uniform drive to distribute to students in need. To-date over 300 uniforms have been donated across the U.S. and Brazil

Self Defense & De-Escaltion Course

DreamRoot developed a self-defense and de-escalation course for those working with traumatized individuals. We have run this course for caretakers working in youth safe houses and orphanages and have now opened this to the general public.

We identified a need for this training as many of the leaders work with people with trauma, some of whom occasionally act out when triggered. This is because those living with trauma have not learned to properly process their triggers and emotions. Unlike most self-defense courses which focus on inflicting pain on the other person to escape a situation, DreamRoot’s approach is different. Our strategy teaches self-defense skills and employs de-escalation techniques for trauma-informed leaders to mitigate an attack while avoiding hurting another person.
