Self Defense & De-Escaltion Course
DreamRoot developed a self-defense and de-escalation course for those working with traumatized individuals. We have run this course for caretakers working in youth safe houses and orphanages and have now opened this to the general public.
We identified a need for this training as many of the leaders work with people with trauma, some of whom occasionally act out when triggered. This is because those living with trauma have not learned to properly process their triggers and emotions. Unlike most self-defense courses which focus on inflicting pain on the other person to escape a situation, DreamRoot’s approach is different. Our strategy teaches self-defense skills and employs de-escalation techniques for trauma-informed leaders to mitigate an attack while avoiding hurting another person.
